Safety by choice, not by chance
Slip testing across Nottinghamshire
Independent, UKAS-accredited floor testing — grip measured wet and dry, by pendulum and surface roughness, with a report that proves a floor is safe.
Fig. 1 — the PTV scale. 36+ is low slip risk.
Two methods
One verdict, wet and dry
The pendulum measures grip directly and gives every area a Pendulum Test Value; surface roughness (Rz) tracks how a floor changes over time and matters most in contaminated areas like kitchens and food plants. We’re accredited for both.
Pendulum (PTV)
Roughness (Rz)
36+ PTV, or Rz above 20, is the low-risk band.
The duty
It’s the law — and it’s yours
Every employer and occupier must keep floors safe so far as is reasonably practicable, and assess the risk. In care settings, the CQC expects slip risk to be actively managed. A measured PTV turns that assessment from an opinion into evidence.

Nothing influences the number
This service is delivered by Surface Performance — entirely independent, with no connection to any flooring or treatment company and nothing to sell but the test. It’s the same accredited lab trusted on sites from Amazon and Gatwick to British Airways and TUI, which also tests over 300 flooring products a year.
Our UKAS testing-laboratory number — verify it independently.
